birds of a feather...

our little display theme last week was all about birds and we had fun making and finding birds to 'do up' our table. Linda has rented even more space for our little shop which means we now take over 2 rooms and both veranda spaces which is lovely, but also means we need to keep creating pretty items. having a theme is wonderful as it keeps me on track but i must also devote time to making other things that are not related to the theme in the lead up to Christmas. my glass baubles sold well last year and i have a few made that didn't sell in July so i have a head start on those but i must not rest on my laurels as our Christmas display will be starting before i know it.
anyhow, here are a few photos from our display, the first stitchery was sold to the lovely Linda, she saw it on my face book page and had to have it! nice to know it has gone to a good home ~_~
i had fun stitching this little bird and and even covered the back all by myself without asking for help :) here are my flock of terry toweling ducks ready for some baby love. a gorgeous china trio, hard to resist buying this myself! assorted cards made by each of us.
love heart and bird garlands and some gorgeous table runners. a truly magnificent pillow hand stitched by Linda. she uses doilies and patches of fabric to create these one of a kind piece of art for your home. and some of our brooches...
i must remind you that if you see something on here that you fancy, drop me an email or leave a comment and i will get back to you with a price and whether or not the stock is still available. i love having online stores but i find very little time to update them!
this weeks theme is fairy tales and i haven't even started!!! thanks for visiting.

do you see what i see revisited

hello folks, isn't it amazing how we see things differently...? for the longest time when i looked at a full moon i could see a rabbit, to me it was the head of a rabbit until i asked someone else if they could see a rabbit...
ME: do you see that rabbit in the full moon?

PERSON: yes there it is hopping on all fours...

ME: what?! oh wow yes i see it now!

now i find it hard to see the head of the rabbit anymore...

and the same can be said for my last post...i wasn't expecting to see anything else than this...

but to my amazement i can now see this

and it is hard to go back to just seeing the Rapunzel style lady on the rim of my cup...
thanks to all those who played along...and just on a random whim i put all of your names into a draw and pulled out Lee of ArtfuLee Designed. Lee if you send me your address i will post you something small for having some fun with me.

before i go, can you guess what this weeks theme is out at coutts cottage? here I'll give you a hint.

have a great weekend

market day and new makes

well market day was a big ball of fun and success!! i enjoyed sitting back in the cool surrounds out at petrie markets with my market buddy Renata and selling my hand made pretties. you can read a bit more about it over on my other blog agapanthas and goldsworthy.
and after the market day was over i promised myself a mini break from crafting and stitching...that lasted all of 2 HOURS as i put together another lavender dress and this....
YES it is my very first attempt at a gorgeous and useful heat wheat bag! i am finally using some of the corduroy i bought ages ago and made this segmented bag of therapy.
you simply fold it to fit in your microwave and heat it for approximately 2 and half minutes. i will be making many of these to sell at my next market stall on the 23rd of this month. i wont be adding these to my online stores as the cost to ship them would be too hefty, so the only way to get your hands on one is to come and visit me in person:) i am still not sure on a price yet but i am thinking between $20 $25, what do you think? is that a reasonable price? too much or too little? you know i just love your advice!!
plus i am finally back onto this little beauty...
i started it so very long ago that i cant even find the post about it...
i have progressed...
i have almost even finished it... there is one part that i absolutely HATE but i would have to unpick so much that my heart would break... i will show you one day and you might be able to help me overcome the problem.
anyhow, thanks for your support leading up to my first market day. we will be out again later this month and would just love to see you there. come and support local hand made, you wont be disappointed.
have a great Wednesday.

my creative space

my attempts at building up stock are slow to say the least...but a quitter i am not so i have cut out two more sets of hearts, birds and garlands in the hopes of stitching up a storm between now and next weekend. the lovely Rebbecca over at Edward and Lilly has been a great cheer squad encouraging me to attend craft fairs in the city and Linda of Lilly cottage has offered to pay for my first stall fee and her mother has even offered to let me have a little space in their shop for the twilight markets but i haven't discussed this with Linda yet so we will have to see about that.
so here some pics of my latest creative space
here are some shabby birds and hearts and here are some more waiting to be stitched.
purple to tantalise you...and
i have some more traditional fabric as well.
i have so many other design ideas in my head but i cant seem to find the time to create them.
my husband has been busy as well...while i was away for the weekend he transformed our kitchen table and i LOVE it!
he painted the legs white and glossed up the top. here is Claudia showing you her felt three little pigs story.
before he varnished the top he gave it that distressed look. he is so clever and i loved this surprise.
as well as wanting to create for a stall i need to update and add to my etsy and madeit shops but once again finding the time is hard. i need to take photos during the day and then when the kidlets are in bed update like crazy.
head over here to read about my latest health problemos...and have a great weekend!

guess who is doing the happy dance?

yes folks i am dancing round the lounge room cause the order is complete! this is my first bulk order of hearts and birds and i am so happy with the end product. i cant wait to get started on my own stash! i made a little heart garland out of the scraps and am going to get started on a whole heap of shabby fabric ones. it is my intention to have a market stall next month, i haven't investigated the possibility fully but i need to set my self a goal and a deadline. i was also looking into making myself some bunting for the stall...yes i am going to tackle bunting which means facing the dreaded machine :p
i have lots of questions about holding a stall and would appreciate any suggestions or advice.
do i need an ABN number just to hold a stall? what sort of 'tent' is best?
should i play music?
the questions are endless and i am not sure where to start to look for the answers...maybe i should twitter the question #_#
ok, i will leave you with some pictures of the end product. if you would like to make an order of anything for your business or home, leave a message in the comments box or find my email in my profile.
the box full to the brim...
and here it is laid out on my bed, click on the photo for a better look.
here is the garland, sweet isn't it?
the frame it is on is a secret project i am working on for my stall.
and here it is on our front entrance mirror. these mirrors can be made to order as well in this country look or shabby chic. it is so good having such a handy husband <3
off to start on some sweet garlands...and other things of course.
thanks also for your support, your comments keep me going and a big thank you to shona of funky fabrix for placing an order with me.
have a great week

i can see the light...

well i have been slowly plodding away grabbing snatches of stitching time here and there. i cant wait until Monday morning around 9am when i have deposited the children to school and the youngest to day care and i have the house to MYSELF. on that first day my priority will be to finish off any remaining hearts or birds and organise myself to take a visit over to shonas shop. at this point in time i have completed 25 and am working on 5 more birds. the order was for 30 to 40 so i am guessing i can finish a few more off between now and Monday :) i will leave you with a peek at how i am progressing.
this was my box last week...
this is the same box this week.
gorgeous fabric
cute birds waiting to be hung on your tree
i popped a few on some old branches and i thought it looked quite nice but i can imagine how nice they will look on a miniature Christmas tree.
well off to fill those last 5 birds and cut out my last 10...
have a fantastic weekend

slower than a snail...

the order for funky fabrix is coming along rather slowly and i blame school holidays, renovations and my THREE CHILDREN for the lack of time i can spend on stitching up these pretty little ornaments. i must say the fabric that shona has supplied me with is stunning when put together. i have co-ordinated the fabrics for this set of 5 birds and i might be able to mix it up again for the next set. what do you think? will this make a nice store front display?? i can just imagine a Christmas tree adorned with all of these hearts and birds...now if i could just get back to the next 30....
ENJOY!
i have placed them in a big box and added some nice smelly wax goodies from Lisa from inn country/olive grove primitives it smells so good each time i lift the lid to add a new ornament.
a closer peek.
here is one set of fabric combinations, i will mix it up again for the next lot.
i will do some more of these. i have more of the dotty fabric than anything else so if i run out of the other fabric i will just keep making them with the pretty dotty fabric
and here you can see the opposites used, very nice indeed.
my plans for tonight... cut out my next 10 items with the hope of working on them this weekend!
over and out.

let the stitching begin....

school holidays have started with a bang, literally! my 7 year old just slammed the door after a fight with the middle child. 2 weeks of fighting is going to drive me round the bend. i have of course 9 weeks of long service leave to look forward to and i can guarantee that i wont be keeping anyone home from school with me on those 9 weeks!
anyhow onto other important items...now that i have taken my teacher hat off, i can concentrate on filling the order of hearts and birds which will become a shop front display at funky fabrix come Christmas time. i started cutting out last night and am 1/4 of the way finished... i think i will finish these before i cut anymore out ...
great fabric chosen by shona.
off to start stitching.
check out my new online shop front at madeit, the link is on my side bar. i only have one item listed at the moment but when i find some time to load some more i will.
have a great weekend

my creative space

i took advantage of the fact that i had a very tired household last Saturday night. with everyone in bed by 7:30 (including my husband) i managed to cut out a few different projects to work on.
i have never been able to do just one thing at a time, so in between making birds, bushkas and hearts, i am working on a stitching project which is hidden underneath everything...
i bought some phone charms as suggested by the gorgeous Trixi from coloured buttons. these two babushkas will not become brooches but i am attempting to attach the phone charms some how. (Trixi will leave a useful comment for sure) i love making my simple hearts and birds, i add a hint of lavender which makes them perfect to freshen up your cupboard or drawer. i hope to add these to my etsy shop as soon as possible and hope that they sell :)
and of course while i stitch i like to thumb through any type of magazine and this little something grabbed my attention in the IKEA catalogue. click on it to get a better look but it would really go well in the rumpus room that mister moo is creating for our family. i have already requested that he include a little hidey-hole for the girls in one corner. he has it all under control but just imagine sitting in one of these little pod chairs with the top pulled down!
and here is my current pin cushion... and you will have to go here to see my new one.. yes i was lucky enough to win a pin cushion plus some other lovely items from lisas give away over at olive grove primitives. do yourself a favour and vist her blog which will provide you with links to her other blogs.
hope you have a creative weekend.

sweet smelling birds and fairy hearts

i am super dooper lucky to have 3 great sisters (all older than me) whom i adore so very much. narelle will be 39 on the 8th of april and i thought, instead of the usual lotto or scratchie ticket we buy, i would make her something to keep forever. now i know that my hearts and birds are nothing spectacular and that any old fool with ten fingers could stitch their own, but everything i make is made with love and even more so this time as this present is for my gorgeous sister.
i added a hint of lavender to both of these softies, they are sure to freshen the room or cupboard.
if i could spend 'saint kevins' stimulus money ($900) any way i want, it would be on a digital SLR camera but alas we are going to be sensible and pay off the remaining $700 we owe on the air conditioner:( anyhoo here are some crappy photos of my lovelies.
this fabric really is spectacular...
however the camera work and lighting doesn't do it justice.
this is the reverse side, more fairies holding all sorts of flowers.
introducing ~Violette~
all of my birds come with a profile which gives you a hint of their personality.
here she is dreaming of those lollipops!! mmmm
another bad photo... bad lighting which doesn't show the real colours.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NARELLE
(remember if you see something you like on this blog and it isnt in the etsy shop just leave me a comment and i will get back to you. )
now i must tell you we have had some real fairy activity in our house and garden and as soon as i get the chance i shall post about it on my other blog ~agapanthas and goldsworthy~
big kisses for now mmmmwwwaaaahhhh goldsworthy

i knew i bought it for a reason....

you know when you see something and you just have to buy it without really knowing why... well the other day when i had a spare hour to kill and no kids, i went to my favourite little fabric place close to my house. as i meandered through every spool of fabric, as you do, i noticed a lovely collection of complimentary fabrics that i just had to have. in my mind i knew i wanted to make some more birds and hearts but i guess deep down my heart was leading me. do you want to know what i am talking about??? well, it is my gorgeous sister Narelle's birthday soon and she absolutely loves violets (and sweet peas)low and behold look at this fabric...
heart and bird pinned ready for stitching
a posy of violets
aren't they sweet and perfect for my sister.
and if that wasn't enough of a perfect coincidence look at the fairy fabric...
yes this little sweety is holding violets.
this fabric is so dear it has sparkles on it, i must use it on a softie of some kind. now my sister doesn't read my blogs so i can tell you that these two will be her present from me filled with some lavender. she can hang them in her cupboard or on her doorknob or anywhere really. i know she will love them.
if you want to purchase a bird or heart you can visit m etsy shop or order one direct by leaving a comment with a descrption of fabric colours etc...
ok off to stitch.
